Moheshkhali
an Island , diversified:
Potentiality
of being a Singapore
Allah has given our
homeland Bangaladesh, a lot of his mercy and resources. Our nature, weather,
climate, landscape, wealth, sea-food, people all are quite good. But we don’t
have enough to meet all the needs we have to have. If we could have utilized
all our prevailing resources, we would have a better nation as well as a
developed country. Here we would like to write about the beautiful Moheshkhali Island ,
a resourceful upazila of Bangladesh .
It is a paragon of beauty and the hill has enhanced it’s beauty as well as it
has given the Island diversification into the
body of Moheshkhali. Once, there were dense forest and various animals in the
hill areas. Now, the forest and the species have been finished and extinct. The
famous tourist spot and one of the most devoted Shrine of Indian sub-continent
Adhinath Temple of Moheshkhali, has also added the flavor to the beauty of the Island . There is also a separate Island, but in the
ownership of Moheshkhali, that`s Sunadia a wonderful landscape and gift of god.
Once it might turn into a land of joy. We have been hearing for decades that
there would be a Mega-Deep Sea-Port at Sunadia and now it`s potentiality has
become brighter. Perhaps, in near future we could see the reality of Sunadia
Deep Sea-Port. The government has already been taken necessary steps to gear up
the implementation process of setting up the port. Another, mega-project named
`Matarbari Super Ultra Coal-Firing Power Project’ is going to be materialized,
soon. The process of related activities encircling the power project has gone
far, in the last few months. Required lands and spaces for the power project
have been being acquired and being transferred to as well as demurrages to the
land owners have been being paid off. The process might be completed as early
as possible, although there is something going wrong among the catalysts, land
owners and the local people all over Moheshkhali, especially at Matarbari.
Moreover, Moheshkhali
Island is famous for its
betel leaf. It is also famous for it’s huge quantity of and quality salt
producing. The most important economically valuable exporting item is Shrimp
and sea-fishes at Moheshkhali. During last few decades its demand has been
speeded up, in both home abroad. The dried fish of Moheshkhali has a good name
throughout the country as well as all over the world. From my childhood, I have
heard about Moheshkhali and heard a lot while I had been studying at Chittagong University during the decade of 1990,
from some of my close friends who were my classmates. But I had never been to
Moheshkhali, before 10/11/2014, the date on which I joined here as an Upazila
Education Officer. During last one year, I have been serving here and have
visited almost all the parts of this upazila. I have been watching and enjoying
the sights and sounds of it intensively, while I have been visiting primary
schools and have been working at primary education sector. I mix with and talk
to the people from all walks of lives here at Moheshkhali everywhere. I love
Moheshkali like my birth place Chakaria and the people of Moheshkhali also love
me very much. I would like to stop here writing about Moheshkhali. Later on, I
shall write again elaborately of it.
