Bangladesh has achieved a great success in the Primary Education sector. A report by UNICEF revealed the says Bangladesh has done tremendous achievement in this attempt. The question of quality of primary education is a far cry. The facilities provided for the teachers aren’t enough and they are not happy. Today, I would like to discuss about the importance of making primary education media-friendly. At present Bangladesh media gives adequate focuses on Higher education and High School as well as college level education. They also try to publish news items about corruption and irregularities of Primary Education Department Offices and Officers. In fact, successes of primary education sector are not being duly focused. It seems that in the media world needs not to do feel to reveal the vast activities of the department. On the other hand, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (MOPME) and the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) and other Offices as well Officers don’t bother about keeping a good relationship with the media.
Primary Education and the Media:
  1. MOPME and DPE authorities should establish a good relationship with the Media personalities and should take initiative to provide the information of their all programs, activities, successes and working plans.
  2. Media has to engage themselves to collect and broadcast Primary Education activities with due importance; as the Channel I doing series reports from on the spot and video clips of schools, teachers, students, teaching-learning activities, structural and other related problems and successes.
  3. What the both Print and Electronic media have been doing on Primary Education sector now, aren’t enough. In other countries the sector is widely being given coverage. Prominent Media like CNN, BBC, The Guardians, The Times etc publishes news stories of Primary Education successes giving due importance.
  4. Field level Offices (DD, DPEO, UEO) should have a sincere effort to publish all information of workshop, training, various programs involving community, People representatives etc in the newspapers and electronic medias.
  5. Officers and Authorities of all level of primary education sector should write and publish about the success stories primary education.
  6. Successes of Good Schools of the country should be made available in the media, so that the other schools, those needed help to develop could follow them.
  7. Stories of Good Head teachers and Assistant teachers should be published in the media.
  8. Academic activities and programs like; Primary education Curriculum, Text Books, Examination System, Stipend Programs, School-feeding Programs, Teaching-learning methods, Materials etc should be focused and published in the Media.
  9. Thoughts and activities of Teachers, Experts and Professionals should be made available on the website and Media.
  10. Studies and Reports of both home and abroad on Primary Education should be published in the Media and also should be made available among Officers, schools and teachers.
  11. Experiences of Officers and Teachers, who have been visiting foreign countries should share with others who don1`t get the chances of that.
  12. Success stories of countries like South Korea, Finland, China, Japan, England, America etc have been dominating in the primary education for decades should be made known to the teachers of Bangladesh.

In fine, I have expressed my feelings here about a good relationship between `Media and Primary Education Sector’ in this article. We can think to follow the suggestions.
